Teenage depression is very common in the United States at this time. It is critical but very difficult to distinguish between the problems one expects in the teenage years and the severe symptoms associated with depression. At any time, it is estimated that 10-15% of teenagers have depression. This shows this is a major human concern. All parents, teachers, and other caregivers need to be aware and try to listen, understand, and help teenagers in this often difficult period.
